Security agencies in Uganda have arrested a 41-year-old man in connection with the killing of an 18-year-old student in Wakiso District.
The suspect, identified as Musasizi Herbert, was apprehended in Gulu following a manhunt after the incident that occurred on February 14, 2026, at around 8:00 PM.
The deceased, Bukenya Martin, was a student at Hillside Secondary School Matugga and a resident of Kirinyabigo, Kawanda in Nabweru Division. According to preliminary reports, the incident happened at the suspect’s residence in Mabanda Cell, Gombe Division, Nansana Municipality.
Authorities allege that the teenager was beaten after he was found inside the suspect’s house. He later succumbed to his injuries. The suspect reportedly fled the area after the incident but was later tracked and arrested in Gulu District.
Police have confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue. Officials say inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident, and the case file will be prepared for prosecution once investigations are complete.
Security agencies have urged the public to remain calm and allow due process to take its course as they continue gathering evidence.
