Nakawa Court Dismisses Incitement Charge Against Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro

The Nakawa Chief Magistrate’s Court on Friday dismissed a case of inciting violence against Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro, the Deputy Spokesperson of the group, citing lack of jurisdiction.

The dismissal followed submissions by the defense legal team, which argued that the court did not have the authority to hear and determine the matter. The presiding magistrate upheld the objection, effectively bringing the incitement case to a close at Nakawa.

However, Mufumbiro is still facing a separate charge of “unlawful drilling” before the Kawempe Magistrate’s Court. He is jointly charged with several other individuals in that case.

Details surrounding the unlawful drilling charge were not extensively discussed during the Nakawa proceedings. The matter at Kawempe is expected to continue on a date to be communicated by the court.

Supporters of Mufumbiro welcomed the dismissal at Nakawa, describing it as a positive development, while legal proceedings in the Kawempe case remain ongoing.
