In an official statement released by Senior Commissioner of Prisons Frank Baine Mayanja, the Commissioner General of Prisons confirmed the heartbreaking loss of three individuals during a morning attack.
The Details of the Incident
The shooting occurred at approximately 10:00 AM (1000 hours). According to the report, a prison warder identified as No. 13544 Warder Anguyo Moses opened fire on his superiors within the facility.
The victims of this senseless act of violence have been identified as:
- Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Hope Catherine (Deputy Officer in Charge)
- Principal Officer I Akishuri Bright (3rd in Command)
- Ms. Ayebare Sarah, the spouse of the Officer in Charge.
Current Status of the Investigation
Following the shooting, the suspect fled the facility and remains at large. While security forces have managed to recover the weapon used in the attack, Warder Anguyo Moses is still being pursued by joint security operations.
The police have secured the crime scene, and a manhunt is currently underway to apprehend the suspect, who is considered armed and dangerous.
